Solvent Recovery Nets Savings for Defense Contractor
When Crest Ultrasonics told us one of their major customers was in critical need of solvent recovery, we knew CBG could provide a suitable resolution for their client, a major defense contractor.
The contractor faced costs surpassing $100,000 annually for the DuPont ™ Vertrel ® SMT it uses to clean precision components used in radar systems. The Vertrel ® SMT did a great job vapor-degreasing the parts and removing machine oil before the components were inspected and shipped.
But the engineered cleaning solvent is expensive, costing in excess of $10,000 per 55-gallon drum, which added up quickly with the contractor going through a drum a month of the solution.
New Jersey-based Crest Ultrasonics, which manufactures the industry-leading vapor degreasing equipment the contractor uses, has worked with CBG before and is familiar with the great results our solvent recovery systems provide.
Crest recommended a CBG solvent recovery system to help its customer rein in its spiraling material costs.
Now, as the used vapor condenses and flows into a sump, the material is automatically pumped out, cycled through a CBG solvent recycler and then reintroduced into the vapor degreasing process in a continuous loop.
As a result, the system constantly removes waste from the solvent stream and provides a continuous replenishment of clean solvent. This closed-loop process helps keep the degreaser cleaner, allowing for more efficient operations and better results.
The defense contractor will realize annual savings of $100,000, thanks to its use of the solvent recovery system.
The savings go beyond lower material costs to include:
- Lower disposal costs for spent cleaning solvent
- Fewer staff hours involved in changing out cleaning solvents and storing used material
- Less space devoted to storing new and spent solvent
Contact CBG now to learn how your company can benefit from solvent recovery.
